Meet
the star.
A five-point star with two dot eyes and a smile. Curious, a little impatient, and always trying to do the right thing. It is the character of Samia Kids, and it is cut from the heart of the Samia mark.
Who the star is
Small, yellow,
and still learning.
The star is not clever and not brave, not yet. It is curious. It asks why. It wants things now. It tries the right thing, gets it wrong, says sorry, and tries again. That is the whole character, and it is enough.
In every film the star will learn the lesson at the same speed as the child watching, and it will never turn round and explain it. If the child gets there first, good. That is the point.
It has no name beyond "the star", and no family tree. It lives in the sky over the green hills drawn on this site, and it comes down whenever something is happening.
Curious
It looks closer, asks why, and turns the stone over. It gets real answers.
Impatient
It wants everything now. Waiting is the lesson it finds hardest, and the one it needs most.
Honest
When it gets something wrong it says so, out loud, and the sky does not fall.
Kind
It shares, it waits its turn (eventually), and it never laughs at anyone.
How to draw the star
Four steps,
one crayon.
Anyone can draw the star, which is the point. Five dots, five lines, two eyes and a smile. The lines below draw themselves as you scroll; yours will be wobblier, and better.
Five dots
One at the top, two at the sides, two at the bottom. Like a person standing with arms out.
Join them up
Go in and out between the dots, all the way round, back to where you started.
Two eyes
Two dots in the middle, a little apart. Now it is looking at you.
A smile, and yellow
A small curve under the eyes, then colour it in. Any yellow will do.
Its faces
Six ways
it feels.
The same star, the same five points. Only the eyes and the mouth change, which is how the people who draw it will keep it the same star from one film to the next.
