For parents and teachers

Three rules we
will not break.

Children cannot read the small print, so there is none. These three rules hold on this site, in the books and in the films, and they are written down here so you can hold us to them.

The rules

What each one
means in practice.

A rule is only worth something if you can tell when it has been broken. So each one comes with the specific things it rules out.

No ads to children

We do not sell a child's attention to anyone. Not on this site, not in the books, not in the films, not in anything made for a child under the Samia name.

  • No advertising on this site or in any film, before, during or after.
  • No sponsored characters, product placement or branded toys written into a story.
  • Nothing to buy inside a story, and no "ask a grown-up to buy" prompts.
  • The only thing we will ever ask a grown-up to buy is a book, and only on the Books site, never in the story itself.

No manipulative design

Nothing here is built to keep a child watching, clicking or coming back. A story starts when a grown-up starts it and ends when it ends.

  • No autoplay and no "next film" that starts on its own.
  • No endless feed, no streaks, no badges, no rewards for coming back tomorrow.
  • No notifications, no countdowns, no "only today", no fake urgency of any kind.
  • No characters that ask a child to do anything outside the story.

No data collection

We collect nothing from children. This site runs no analytics and sets no cookies; what it does store is listed below, in full, and it is short.

  • No analytics, no advertising pixels, no third-party trackers, no fingerprinting. The only outside request a page makes is for the typefaces (see "What this site stores").
  • A child is never asked for a name, an age, a photo, a voice or a location.
  • The only form on this site is for grown-ups and asks for an email address.
  • Nothing is sold, shared or handed to anyone; see "What this site stores".

Before you read one

What is in
the stories.

A short, plain account so you know what you are handing a child.

Who they are for

The three books in print are for ages 1 to 5: short, read aloud, in a lap. The films in development are meant for the same small people and whoever is holding them.

Faith in the books

The Allah Book series is about the creatures Allah made, and says so plainly: a goat on the hillside, and the One who made it. That is how Samia Books describes them. If you want to know more before you hand one to a child, write to [email protected] and a person will answer.

What they teach

The books in print each take one creature and the One who made it. The films in development are built around six lessons (honesty, patience, courage, generosity, curiosity and making things), one a film, never a lecture, and the star gets it wrong first. The six, explained.

Nothing frightening

No jump scares, no villain that follows a child to bed, no fear used as a way to teach. The endings are safe.

Made by people

Every story is written by a person and drawn by a person. No machine-written story, no machine-drawn picture, no synthetic voice.

If we get it wrong

Write to [email protected]. We fix mistakes, say that we fixed them, and keep the note on the page.

For teachers

Reading them
in a classroom.

Read the books aloud to a class as you would any picture book. If you want to use a story in teaching material, or want copies for a school, write to [email protected] and a person will answer. Samia Learn, the house's education desk, has a page for teachers too.

For grown-ups

One letter,
when there is news.

One letter when a film is released and one when a new book goes on sale. Nothing else, and nothing to children. Unsubscribe any time by replying to a letter.
