Samia Kids is the children's desk of Samia Studios: picture books and short films for small people. Three books are in print and a pilot film is in development. Every story is written and drawn by a person, and nothing here is for sale to a child.

The star

The hero of
the house.

The star is the small yellow character cut from the heart of every Samia mark. On Samia Kids it steps out of the logo and becomes a person: curious, a little impatient, and always trying to do the right thing.

In the films it will get things wrong first and learn each lesson alongside the child watching, one film at a time, never pretending to have them all figured out.

Films in development

A first film,
drawn by hand.

The first Samia Kids film is a pilot. It is in development: written, drawn and voiced by people, flat and bright, with one plain lesson and no lecture.

What we can say today.

A short film is being made. Its title, length and story are not announced, and there is no release date; we will not invent one. When there is a finished film it will play on this site, free and with no ads, and the letter will say so.

Three rules we
will not break.

Children cannot read the small print, so there is none. These three rules hold on this site, in the books and in the films, and you can hold us to them.

No ads to children

No ads on this site, in the books or in the films. No sponsored characters, no product placement, nothing to buy inside a story.

No manipulative design

No autoplay, no endless feed, no streaks, no rewards for coming back, no "are you still watching". A story ends, and then it is over.

No data collection

No cookies, no analytics, no trackers. A child is never asked for a name, an age or a photo. The only form is for grown-ups, and it asks for an email.

Made by people

Written and drawn
by a person.

No story, picture or voice in a Samia Kids book or film is generated. None is published as a tool's first output.

  • Every book carries the name of the person who wrote it, and every film will; illustrations are drawn, credited and paid for.
  • No machine-written story, no machine-drawn picture, no synthetic voice.
  • Nothing made to frighten a child: no jump scares, no villain that follows a child to bed.
  • One lesson a film, told kindly, and the star gets it wrong before it gets it right.
  • If we get something wrong, write to [email protected]: we fix it and say so.
